Limited food options

Wednesday

Today was my grandmother’s funeral.

It was very emotional for me…I was so sad thinking that this would be the last time I ever saw her…I was so grateful that it seemed like she never suffered…I was so humbled seeing how many lives she touched.

It is a day that I will always remember.

After the funeral, the church had a little meal.

It was tough for me personally.  As a vegetarian, I always am able to find SOMETHING to eat, but it’s not always an option I would pick for myself.  I don’t know WHAT I would do if I went full vegan.  It’s SO hard to know what is put in foods unless you make them yourself.

What was I able to eat — mashed potatoes (they were very good), cooked vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, carrots…pretty good with lots of salt and pepper), a roll with butter (just okay), dessert — two bars (they were okay…nothing GREAT).

The main part of the meal for everyone else was fried chicken.

Don’t get me wrong…it was so nice to do a nice meal after the funeral…I just wish that the options were a little more varied!

Sometimes it gets so frustrating to only be able to eat what is offered.
